Polytech Universe-5 Spacecraft

Measure electromagnetic radiation is various frequencies, AIS receiver and IoT receiver.

The spacecraft is designed to measure the level of electromagnetic radiation in various frequency ranges; receiving automatic identification system ( AIS ) signals, storing and accumulating AIS messages and transmitting them to a ground control station for further processing and analysis; low-speed data reception from low-power Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) sensors in the 27 MHz range to experimentally test the feasibility of implementing a global IoT data transmission network.

Thanks to the ability to link the received data to geographic coordinates, the information that the payload module will provide can be used to construct maps of the distribution of the level of electromagnetic radiation from the Earth's surface.

Missions:

• measurement of the level of electromagnetic radiation in various frequency ranges;
• receiving automatic identification system (AIS) signals, storing and accumulating AIS messages and transmitting them to a ground control point for further processing and analysis;
• low-speed data reception from low-power Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) sensors in the 27 MHz range to experimentally test the feasibility of implementing a global IoT data transmission network.

Paylaods:

• broadband radio receiver with an analysis bandwidth of up to 100 MHz in the range of 100 MHz – 18 GHz;
• an overview camera for assessing the correct operation of small spacecraft subsystems with a resolution of 640x480, 320x240 or 160*120 pixels;
• onboard AIS receiver, two frequency channels: 87V (161.975 MHz), 88V (162.025 MHz); sensitivity: 110 dBm; power consumption: no more than 4 W;
• experimental onboard IoT HF receiver, operating frequency 27 MHz.

• creation of a database on the territories of the technosphere, seas and oceans, forests, energy-intensive objects;
• forecasting possible interruptions in the operation of radio communication and television systems;
• correcting errors and increasing the accuracy of ground geopositioning systems;
• attracting schoolchildren and students to the study of space technologies;
• experimental implementation of a global network for  IoT technology.
