6U satellite combining EO and real-time IoT data to track farming's impact and aid sustainable policies.

Description

6U satellite combining EO and real-time IoT data to track farming's impact and aid sustainable policies.

The PLATERO satellite, funded by the Junta de Andalucía through the Andalusian Agricultural and Fisheries Management Agency (AGAPA) integrates Earth Observation (EO), Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for enhanced environmental monitoring.

PLATERO will track biodiversity, desertification, emergencies (e.g., wildfires, floods), and farming impacts, aiding sustainable policy development. Equipped with a high-performance multispectral camera and IoT capabilities, PLATERO enables real-time, ground-based sensor communication, streamlining decision-making.

Results

Received telemetry points from PLATERO just 36 seconds after waking up. First images were acquired 10 days after launch and have already been supplied to the customer, Junta de Andalucía.
