Seed satellite for a LEO equatorial constellation providing continuous LoRaWAN IoT services.

Description

Advanced 3U nanosatellite enabling seamless IoT connectivity in both urban and remote locations. Seed satellite for a LEO equatorial constellation providing continuous LoRaWAN IoT services.

Results

We began to attempt contacting it using our own ground station, following our planned operating procedure. Initially, we did not manage to contact the satellite on its first few passes.

Fortunately, NUS CRISP reached out to us offering help and began tracking NuLIoN. NUS CRISP is an operational ground station and are busy tracking other satellites. Nevertheless, they tracked NuLIoN with their spare capacity. At around 1600hrs, they picked up a short blip on their spectrum analyser, which corresponds to NuLIoN’s frequency. We quickly integrated our ground equipment into their station and waited. In the subsequent pass, we started to see scrambled data coming in but being discarded. At last, we got our first decoded beacon packet at 21:01:07SGT.

NuLIoN is operating nominally, solar panels and communication antenna are fully deployed. In the upcoming weeks, we will continue to test the satellite and commission it phase by phase till it is ready for its mission.

Deployment of Oxford Space Systems’ cutting-edge deployable helical antenna.

Successful collaboration with Squareroot8 Technologies in demonstrating Quantum Random Number Generation (QRNG) and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) technologies in space.
