Description

CUBEBEL-2 satellite network is based on the BSUSat 2 educational satellite of the Belarusian State University (BSU). The network will operate in amateur-satellite service allocations and will be used for aerospace education and scientific research programs.

The satellite will serve as a basis for various aspects of the aerospace educational and research programs at the university. In the context of practical courses, students will learn receiving and processing telemetry and satellite imagery, check various stabilization algorithms, calculate orbital elements, analyze Earth magnetic field, thermal distribution on Earth surface etc. Satellite equipped with pair of multispectral imagers and it will acquire the high-resolution imagery across a wide range of spectral bands (Visible and near IR) to monitor Earth surface. Students will study also the radio systems of amateur satellite and get an idea of amateur radio.

For radio amateurs, the satellite has been equipped with a digital repeater. A detailed instruction on how to receive telemetry and how radio-amateurs could use UHF-repeater will be spread on the satellite website. After launching the satellite, we will spread free consultations on communication with/through amateur satellites, and receiving and processing telemetry from CubeBel-2 (for example with the support of open satellite ground-station network satnogs.org). Project members will also help to develop receiving ground stations at national universities and schools.
